Welcome Spring!

Every year around this time I am amazed at the world around me. I didn't realize I had been cooped up inside for three months and desperately needed fresh air. I love how everything smells, especially the rain! And while I have a typical black thumb, lately some of my efforts have paid off. I planted a vine called Clemetis by the mailbox when we moved in five years ago and it has never been a show stopper. I actually was going to pull it out and just plant flowers this year. So, imagine my surprise when, after four days of rain, I went to get the mail and just about fainted. Zachary is sitting next to my first ever blooms! I am so excited. I actually have the best looking mailbox spot on the block. My senior citizen neighbors were about to write us out of the competition but, we managed to sneak in and steal the show! I love it! We actually recieved complaint letters three years ago when we ripped out 20 year old azaleas out of the front yard (there were 8 of them!). I have been chomping at the bit to show them that I can do a better job. I know I am not a garden queen, so, I have to go simple. But I am quite proud of my one accomplishment! Just wait until my lilac bush blooms, if the bunnies will leave it alone!!
